SCLS Attends Senior Rally Day - May 4th, 2021
Senior Rally Day occurs each year in May to coincide with Older Americans Month. It is designed to raise awareness among legislators and the Governor about senior issues during the time period when the May revision of the Governor’s annual budget is being finalized. This year, SCLS Staff attended Senior Rally Day in order to support this important coordinated advocacy program and helped make our legislators aware of the need to provide funding for senior programs.
Some of the shared stated goals included that, "Equity and intersectionality need to be at the center of services to transform our systems." and that "Intersectionality remains salient to provide services for seniors that are inclusive, equitable, and representative of the senior community today and in the future. As stated in the last Senior Rally Day Webinar 2021, 'Aging continues!' This day can be a reflection on how we all play an active role in guiding seniors in aging with dignity."
A video of the program from 10am - 12noon is accessible by clicking on this link: https://4csl.org/senior-rally-day/
