Community Outreach Specialist
Jonissa Denning graduated high school in La Puente, CA and started her undergraduate degree at UCSC. She graduated with a double major in Politics and Legal Studies. While at UCSC, Jonissa volunteered for four years at a nursing home near her high school. Once a week after school, she volunteered as a caretaker providing companionship and forming a bond with many of the elderly patients. She’ll never forget her time with the amazing seniors of her community and that’s the reason she started the SCLS Legal Advocate internship, because she knew it aligned with a passion of hers to help the elderly. The internship impacted Jonissa so greatly, that it’s given her a drive to go to law school someday and become an attorney, like those who work at SCLS defending the rights of seniors every day.
